An internal combustion engine Vehicle, such as a car, for example, is made up of about 2,500 components that must work simultaneously in synchrony for its correct functioning.

Not all components require an approval. But many parts that make up a vehicle must guarantee a certain level of reliability in order to best optimize the dynamic qualities and safety for the driver and passengers. For this reason, they must follow a Type Approval process after having carried out the tests required by the UNECE Regulations.

Engine:

Internal combustion car engines are not all the same and differ from each other, for example in terms of displacement and the different elements that are connected to it. Other UNECE Regulations, on the other hand, are intended for electric vehicles. The main components are: the cooling system, the turbo compressor, the fuel system, the battery, the exhaust pipe, the filters, sensors, belts, fuel tank, pump (water, oil …).

Transmission:

The transmission is a set of elements useful for transferring the power generated by the engine to the wheels. The transmission includes: the clutch, the gearbox, the elastic joints, the universal joints, the transmission shaft, the bevel gear, the differentials, the drive shafts.

The suspension:

The suspension have the task of absorbing all the shocks due to the uneven road surface, they have an essential function with regard to the dynamic and safety qualities of the car in motion. They generally consist of: bushings, ball joints, rubbers, arms, crosspieces, springs, shock absorbers and anti-roll bars.

The axles:

The axle is the car component that absorbs most of the car’s weight. This is one of the critical elements of the vehicle. The car axle is a steel rod that connects the wheels to the car.

Steering system:

To steer the car you need a steering system, which in turn is made up of a set of components. The latter allow the driver to change the angle of the front wheels through the action carried out on the steering wheel. It is composed of: the steering wheel, steering box, steering column, rods, joints and tie rods, power steering.

Braking system:

Brakes are one of the safety systems found on any vehicle. In detail, the brakes are a mechanical device that must be used when it is necessary to slow down or block the car while it is moving. A braking system is mainly composed of: brake disc, calipers, pads, pump, advanced electronic brake control systems.

The tires:

Tires are the last part of our car to receive energy from the engine. Their function is to guarantee the adherence of the vehicle itself to the road, both when it is stationary and during the driving phase.

Car body:

As in the chassis, different types of high-strength materials are used that try to reduce the weight of the car: bumper, hood, doors.

Interiors:

The main components inside the Vehicles that need the Type Approval are: steering wheel, seats, safety systems (airbags), seat belts, the dashboard and the parts connected to it, the radio and multimedia and connectivity system.
