light emitting diode (led) light sources

Safety, technology and among the most important pieces are the headlights. A lot of people forget that your headlights are a safety feature. And unfortunately, about half of the fatalities on the world roads occur at night or in low light scenarios where better headlights could be affective.

Headlights today are undergoing some of the biggest technological changes seen in the history of the automobile. The goal with headlights has always been to illuminate as much of the road as possible in the safest way possible. Automakers have worked toward this goal by improving the bolts used and by building features into them, such as the ability to swivel headlights back and forth to follow the terms of the steering.

But innovations have also created other challenges:

One persistent problem is headlight glare. When headlights shining in the eyes of an oncoming driver or pedestrian, it is irritating and sometimes dangerous. LED’s have opened up some new possibilities for improved safety and visibility, both in terms of the level of light in the direction in which it is pointed.

A new class of headlights made up of LEDs seems to be able to solve this problem while also dramatically reducing headlight glare. These new headlight arrays are called adaptive driving beam headlights, adaptive driving beam headlight systems typically make use of strings or clusters of leaves attached. To control the ideas that leads in these bunches can be selectively dimmed or turned on or off. Ray can deliver a very complex formation of lights at different levels, highlighting what needs to be seen by the driver while simultaneously reducing glare for those around the vehicle.

The design and production of LED lighting devices must be carried out following the UNECE Regulation No. 128:

Each sample submitted shall conform to the relevant specifications of this Regulation. LED light sources shall be so designed as to be and to remain in good working order when in normal use. They shall moreover exhibit no fault in design or manufacture. LED light sources shall exhibit no scores or spots on their optical surfaces which might impair their efficiency and their optical performance. This shall be verified when commencing approval testing and when required in the Regulation No. 128. LED light sources shall first be aged at their test voltage for at least forty-eight hours. For multi-function LED light sources, each function shall be aged separately. Unless otherwise specified, electrical and photometric measurements shall be carried out at the relevant test voltage(s). Also test are made for the flux of light, maximum temperature test, voltage test and color.

Conformity of production of LED light sources approved to this Regulation shall be so manufactured as to conform to the type approved by meeting the inscriptions and technical requirements set in the Regulation.

ATS Group as Technical Service designated by different Authorities and as an Inspection Body, it carries out inspections on the testing activities carried out directly at the authorized operating offices of the Manufacturer or recognized Laboratories, for the issue of the Final Inspection Report and the subsequent Type Approval Certificate issued by the Competent Authority, for the LED production companies.
